Day 4: Transfer to Nicaragua -  Granada

Welcome to Nicaragua Land of Lakes and Volcanoes! You arrive at Peñas Blancas border, after migrations and customs procedures you are welcome by a representative from Nicaragua, then you are transferred to your hotel at the colonial gem of Central America:  Granada.

Granada was founded in 1524 and is believed to be the second oldest city established in mainland Latin America by the Spanish conquest. Nowadays Granada is characterized by bright-colored Spanish-colonial architecture, visible throughout the city center.

No visit to Granada is complete without exploring the city’s historic centre on foot. On this tour, you’ll discover key sites including the San Francisco Convent, founded in 1529, and La Merced Church where you can climb the bell tower and enjoy spectacular views over the city, Lake Nicaragua, and Mombacho volcano.

In the afternoon, visit Las Isletas. Meet the captain and board a motorboat. During the tour, your guide will point out the exotic flora and fauna, to later stop at one of the islands, and visit the San Pablo fort, built in the 18th century to protect Granada against English pirates.

A real treat for coffee lovers, on this tour you'll visit the coffee plantation of Café Las Flores, idyllically located on slopes of Mombacho Volcano Nature Reserve. Here you'll learn about sustainable coffee cultivation and at the end of the tour enjoy coffee tasting at Hacienda Café Las Flores.

Visit the ChocoMuseo to learn about cacao and the chocolate making process. This workshop covers the entire process, starting from the cocoa bean and ending with a handmade bar of chocolate. Cocoa-based beverages are also covered in the workshop, including how to prepare an ancient Mayan drink.
