San Ignacio is by far the number one inland destination in the country located 10 miles from the Guatemala border. It plays host to the most concentrated adventure and culture attractions in Central America and all are within 10 minutes to 2 hours travel easily enjoyed on a day trip using the town as a base. Among those top attractions are: Xunantunich and CahalPech Maya Ruins, Butterfly Farm, Iguana Exhibit, Cacao Farm, ATM caves, Crystal Caves, Mountain Pine Ridge, Zip lining, Cave tubing, inland Blue Hole, National Parks, Birding sanctuaries, Barton Creek Cave, kayaking with portage, Belize City Zoo, Black hole drop and much more. The town is noted as having the best local market in the country and Saturday is the optimal day for a visit. The old town has been largely renovated and there are lots of new restaurants, bars and even one of the only pedestrianized streets in the country. It’s also used as a gateway between Guatemala and Belize on a multi destination trip. ElijioPanti National Park is close to the town.
