In the Stann Creek district the larger towns and villages are on the coast, providing equal opportunity for inland and marine activities. Placencia is a 16-mile long peninsula of white sand beaches. It is home to the communities of Maya Beach, Seine Bight and Placencia village. Once a scarcely populated fishing village, Placencia has become a thriving tourism center.
