Hummingbird Highway Probably very unusual for a ‘road’ to be considered as a tourist attraction but the Hummingbird Highway is a stunning drive through the Maya mountains linking the West and Capital with Dangriga, Hopkins, Placencia and Punta Gorda. The road weaves and winds through the mountains and there are several opportunities for stops along the way for extreme adventure, kayaking, caving, the inland blue hole, Marie Sharps hot sauce factory, St. Herman’s Cave, Crystal cave and many more varied adventures. There are a few small villages en route with food options and a few low- key accommodations. At the end of the mountain section of the highway heading towards the coast you can drive into Dangriga or turn onto the Southern Highway and head towards Hopkins, Placencia or Punta Gorda.
